Pyrgos is a village, above Neochori and Kastania is not visible
from Neochori as it is located eastern and hidden by the mountains.
Pyrgos was established in aproximentaly 1565 A.D. by a family called
Manolitsi who probably came from Northern Ipirus.
In 1920's the pupolation of the village
was a few hundrends. Most of the villagers were farmers but the
poor soil fertility forced them to move to other parts of Greece,
or even abroad and especially in the U.S.A., Germany and Australia.

Today the population is only 50 people who make their living by
producing and selling olive oil and other products by olive trees.
Pirgos is worth visiting for its narrow
streets found in the heart of the village and especially for the
spectacular sunset view from the church of St. George or from the
village's square.
