 The
province of Riglia has three settlements: Kato Riglia, Ano Riglia
and Elaiochorio. The settlements are located between two streams,
the Gerovas that comes from the mountains of Milea and goes in Pantazi
beach. The other stream comes from the mountains of Arachova and
through Ano Riglia goes also in the Pantazi beach. Riglia is built
by the county road Kalamata-Areopolli. In a distance of 500 metres
is located Ano Riglia and after 2 kilometres is the village Elaiochorio.
All three settlemnts are traditionally built.  Elaiocorio
is the oldest settlement of the three and Riglia is about 300 years
old. People say that allresidents come from the Platsa village that
is more ancient. The permanent residents of the province are about
100. But during the summer, people from abroad and other cities
come for vacations. The main occupation of people in Riglia is the
oil industry . During the past ten years also turism grew, as they
built rooms for rent by the sea. The people are kind and hospitable.
They welcome warmly all turists and make friendships with them,
expecting to come back next summer.
